HACCP Hygiene instructions

Hygiene instructions for the handling of chemicals in the food industry

In food production plants and storage facilities, “chemicals which do not meet food regulations” are neither allowed to be handled nor to be stored in the same room as open or packaged food. This includes epoxy, methacrylate and polyurethane resins for floor coatings as well as, e.g. lacquers and paints, adhesives, detergents (except if approved for use in the food industry by law), and cement / concrete or wall plaster. If it is necessary to work with such substances, on the grounds of these hygiene rules alone the food must be stored elsewhere or appropriately protected. Whether or not a substance smells is not a significant factor in the decision-making process.
